Free Live Online Workshop

Is it even possible that these words exist? together in the same sentence?
Well I've got good news for you.YES!

on Creative Live...
I've already attended some courses before, and this time there is a special workshop that you may be interested in. It's "Scrapbooking with Project Life" with -as I've recently learnt from Natasa- the creator of Project Life Becky Higgins. ^_^ It's a 3 day workshop on her scrapbooking memory-keeping system, and you can attend it from your home and register for free. Just check what time it will be at your timezone. For Greece it's at 19:00 p.m.

Well it's free for as long it is live, and after that you can purchase the workshop and have unlimited access to it. I am definitely going to attend it (although it's soooo long) and Natasa, too. If you are also planning to enrol, leave me a comment here and let's meet at the Creative Live's chat room or at twitter! (there is a specific hashtag for each course)

I've been seeing bloggers scrapbook for oh-so long, but never gave it a try, I hope this course will help me decide! Scrapbooking "is a method for preserving personal and family history in the form of a scrapbook.Typical memorabilia include photographs, printed media, and artwork." If you need more information on this ask Natasa of Creative Tsouf, or Cristina of Scrapbooking, manolias and music, either attend the workshop!

It's tomorrow!! I'm soooo excited!!! What do you say?

Do you have a business card?

Do you have a business card? Do you often give them to people you just met?
When I decided, I needed some business cards for the first time, it was when me and Panagiota started teaching how to crochet, and started going on craft fairs, and people were asking about our mail or where to find us and how to contact us.

Although I had been working as a photographer and my phone number or my email were asked for before, it never seemed to be that important to get in hassle designing and printing business cards, I thought it was too self centered and that other people will think that I was trying to make an impression-in a bad way! But when it was all about our team, it felt more natural and less self centered, it seemed good marketing! Well If you ask me now, I think everyone who has a small business no matter for how long, needs to have business cards. It looks so professional, and it's like a small gift or a small freebie to give to someone. Beautiful cards and smart designs always stuck in my mind and in my card holder. I even have some from 10 years ago, and I don't through them away cause I like them. (ok I have a small collection of them)
You should think it as a small sneak peek of your style, that illustrates how good you are on what you do.

That's my new "facebook card"
Well, while I was browsing on moo.com site to decide on whether I would print my new cards with them, I found that they have an offer and decided to give it a try. They give you 50 cards for free as a promotion to a new type of card. I've always thought of MOO cards as the coolest site for business cards, not just because a lot of my friends have printed their cards there, for me some sites just seem so friendly and cool, do you ever have this sense? Anyways you can go there and grab your 50 facebook cards. It's a great idea, I will probably reorder a bigger amount. They use your profile picture and your cover photos and you can easily print up to as many different design as you like. Personally I love how they look!

After I placed my order, I searched a little their site, and I decided to affiliate with them, cause I like what they do, so if you purchase something through my blog, I will get a small commission. I don't want to buzz you all the time with ads but in case you are interested more on MOO cards, you can visit them and since they have 25% of right now and 20% off Christmas cards, it may be a good chance.

I'm very proud of my cards!
If you are hesitant about having your own card, I would suggest this moo facebook offer, to start.
Was this interesting to you? If so leave a comment below.

100th post!!!!

Hi! This is the 100th post of Double Crochets blog!! hell yeah! omg! :) Today I am attending a new paper related seminar with the same conductor as the previous, Georgia Gremouti. Do you remember that post, on a paper folding seminar I attended earlier this year!? Well here are the rest of the photos from the 1st seminar!

We all folded a lot of paper!! But the purpose was to create a fashion accessory, so after lots of brainstorming and ideas...
These were some printed, brain scans, I've found in the garbage 5 years ago ... (I am a hoarder :S )

I made this ear cuff
This craft paper was folded and painted by me, also :)

And I also created this bracelet by an encyclopedia page, it was from the letter "A"

Here are the creations of the team!

As I look at these photos I am thinking about creativity and the power a team has. I miss that!
In addition to this whole lovely experience, I was happy to find myself using a lot of previous knowledge and materials to this workshop, like old papers I've been gathering since forever, my interest in origami, and the 1000 paper cranes project I've once started (and never finished), my love for pleats that was grown in my fashion pattern making course.. and more.

It felt like there is some puzzle trying to get together its pieces, because it always felt like I'm undertaking too much of different arts and crafts, and never focus on one, however after this seminar I feel like finding my way through all this. Crossing my fingers I'll be figuring it out soon.

anyways, lovely team, lovely conductor, pretty interesting subject! let's see what's to happen today!! I'll keep you posted :P (literally...)

p.s. I have something little special for you...soon!

dentelle

Last year, when I, still, was at the fashion school, our textile design teacher, brought us a book to get inspired by, for our designs. It was full with antique patterns and designs for lace and fine crochet! As soon as the book reached my desk, I grabbed some crappy photos with my phone camera. Despite the low quality of them, I decided to share them here, because my adoration for those designs is indescribable!!

In my eyes those designs are so contemporary and original! When I look at them my mind is bursting with ideas! What do you think? Unfortunately I didn't keep a note of the book's name! Instead you can check this article on Irish lace
hope you like them!

So this is my blog

If you have been following Double Crochets for a while now, you already know that it's a blog, a brand and a team created by me and my sister, Panagiota. And you might already know that there are a lot of changes happening around here. Panagiota due to loads of work the whole past one and a half year, she didn't have the time to focus on Double Crochets, leaving me responsible around here. Now that we have both moved to different cities, living our lives, I had to decide what is do be done! Writing this post supposed to help me clarify/resolve the future and the purpose of this blog. We always worked very beautifully as a team and she is a lot more than the best model for photo shoots ever, but I have to move on and accept that things ought to change. To be honest, it's not easy, and I have no clue what Double Crochets' blog will be about in the years to come.

via

I am not quite sure if I'm keeping the name, I know that if I don't intent to be "loyal" to crocheting and yarns and all..... the name "Double Crochets" will be truly misleading...! Don't get me started with how difficult rebranding is. But as Double Crochets have stated in the past:
...We both share the love for handmade, unique and special things that each and everyone has the power to create ... We really want to "spread the thread" of crocheting, knitting and craftmaking but mostly we want to share the love of creating and appreciating things that are made with love..
I know that I will always love handmade and unique stuff. I know that I'll always enjoy creating stuff, and as far as the word "creation" includes design, drawing, photography, creating beautiful content, crocheting, sewing, knitting, collage, or even pulling together anything in order to make the world a little bit more creative, I will definitely want to be a
 creative person.
via

And so this is my blog,

and my ideas, and my decisions and my space to express creativity.
Double Crochets is the name of my blog at the moment, and all I have to do asap is to feel comfortable and connected with it. :) Panagiota will always be my sister (I mean c'mmon!) and she will always have a home in my home, and a blog in my blog. But that's the day I decide that Double Crochets is me. :)
I am the curator, the designer and the person behind answering emails
(*and also the one to miss the deadlines and to make mistakes and trying to accept that that's life!)

glad to meet you

See you around, with new content, new crochet projects, my new life and who knows what else!
